Dental Fantasy Director: A word to the parents

Dear parents! Soon Dental Fantasy will become four years old. In these four years we treated almost seven thousand children employing most advanced technologies, and this enables us to judge not only about our potential capabilities, but also about distant results of treatment we provided. These results make us happy; however, we are not going to stand still. The staff of Dental Fantasy will carry on improving their professional skills, skills in communication with children and raising the level of the service. Allow me to give you the idea of specifics of our clinic.

Initial Visit and Diagnostics

The chief aim of the first visit is precise diagnosis. Even at developed stages, caries in milk teeth may not be easily identified. What seems to be caries a careful examination might reveal as pulpitis (nerve inflammation). Diagnostics is not an easy thing with little children who cannot stand motionless sitting in the chair with the mouth open. That is why it is so important for us and for achievement of good result to have your understanding and help.

• In the first visit, the doctor and the child get to know each other, establish the contact; the doctor examines the patient and drafts a preliminary schedule of treatment. An easy manipulation, such as professional teeth cleaning or hermetization, may be carried out at this stage at the doctor’s option. By our experience we know that some children must not have any treatment in their first visit since it may break good relationships between the doctor and the little patient. • We examine the mouth cavity, use laser diagnostics of caries and if necessary, X-ray. To work out the exact schedule of treatment we need the complete diagnostic picture.
• If the child is suffering from toothache or pain in the jaw, the doctor prescribes preparations to stop inflammation. The dentist would rather not do anything in such a visit because it is likely to be painful (in acute inflammation, it is often impossible to make the manipulation without any pain).

Treatment

Children’s dentistry is different from adults’ dentistry as psychology and physical capacity at a young age does not allow a child to sit all the necessary time with the mouth open and stand all the necessary unpleasant manipulations. The younger is the child, the more difficult it is. A really frightened child or a child with some general illnesses is often unable to open the mouth at all. This is why:

• We never do it by force. For a short painless manipulation, when sedation or anesthesia is unpractical, the dentist may easily hold the child’s arms and legs (the child may break down, of course). But we never get down to a long complicated treatment involving forcible constraint, for it can cause harm to the child’s health.
• Relationship between the little patient and the dentist is a contact between two unfamiliar people, and this is why, for all expertise of our dentists, it does not always end in desirable friendship. So, in a complicated case, you may be advised to try and make friends with another dentist in our clinic. Note also that dentists in our clinic have different categories. • We have expertise (psychological techniques for communicating with children), all modern opportunities handy (laughing gas, sedative syrup, artificial sleep), and officially issued licenses for treatment of any children in our clinic.
• Our dentists employ the most efficient technologies for treatment of children’s both milk and permanent teeth: light-hardening fillings in milk teeth, one-visit pulpitis treatment, crowns on milk teeth, restoring a broken permanent tooth, and others.

• Prices for our services are as high as high are the dentists’ expertise, the quality of materials (up-to-date, long-life and biocompatible) and equipment we use. When you choose our quality service which may seem expensive, you will save your future and your children’s future health.
• Prices for service depend on the clinic you choose and on the dentist’s category. So, you may choose quality service at a price acceptable for you.
• Your visit must be preliminary appointed. We seriously focus on seeing you right at the appointed time. However, with little children, the schedule may unpredictably change. Dentists hope for your understanding; I for my part do everything so as to make your waiting easier and more pleasurable.
• For your convenience, the managers of the clinic will remind you of your appointment over the phone, and invite you to take a free preventive check-up every three months. Prevention is the best way not to sentence your children to long, painful and costly treatment.
