Over 80% people have malocclusion (wrong bite). This problem has not hereditary origins alone, but children’s bad habits also add to it. This is why our clinic’s orthodontist consults parents during their first visit to us about getting the bite right. We recommend doing it during the first year of life.

When is the treatment possible? At the age of 3, we evaluate the bite of the milk teeth and can start orthodontic treatment with removable aligners.

Between 4 and 6, the child’s body is getting ready for changing milk teeth to permanent ones: in this period, the child should repeatedly consult the orthodontist.

Next important time is 7 years of age, when 4 permanent molars and 8 front teeth start to grow. At this stage the orthodontist can observe the formation of permanent teeth’s occlusion and prescribe alignment of occlusion with removable aligners (training braces).

At the age of 9, plastics of frenulum of the upper lip may be performed if necessary.

At 12, a child’s permanent teeth have grown, but the facial skeleton is still growing. This helps to evaluate the permanent teeth bite and if necessary, prescribe treatment with non-removable appliances (braces).

Of course, teeth may grow a little before or after the specified age; this is considered normal.

Technologies. In our clinic, children and teenagers between 3 and 18 can undergo orthodontic treatment.

In your first visit, the orthodontist will tell you how to remedy your child’s bad habits and promote the right bite development.

If treatment is necessary, the orthodontist will review the patient’s or the parents’ complaints, gather information about the patient’s growth and development, examine the mouth cavity and carry out dental impressions.

Carrying out impressions may cause nausea. In Dental Fantasy, we use nitrogen-oxide-and-oxygen sedation which arrests nausea and makes this usually unpleasant manipulation quite bearable.

One of the integral stages of diagnostics is obtaining an orthopantomogram and teleroentgenogram in the lateral projection. Our clinics are equipped with up-to-date digital orthopantomographers. This equipment allows obtaining diagnostic roentgenograms of the teeth, jaws and head with minimal radiation exposure.

Braces

The most difficult thing with braces is achievement of the result which would be just right, and then preservation of this result for the rest of the life. The success depends on the correctness of diagnostics, right scheduling, selection of the type of braces and, certainly, the dentist’s expertise.
